Coast to Coast starts Saturday

This weekend, a number of Boyle cyclists will undertake a major psychical and personal challenge when they cycle from the west of Ireland to the east of Ireland over two days.

Leaving Boyle at 5.30am on Saturday morning, the cyclists will travel by bus to Keem Bay in Achill.

They will depart Achill at approx 9am on the first stage of 160k to Boyle, arriving in the town later that evening.

Sunday morning will see the riders leave Boyle at 7am for the 180k trip to Skerrres in north county Dublin, arriving back in Boyle Sunday evening by bus for a welcome meal and refreshments.

Seven cyclists will ride both stages – Enda Madden, Brian Nerney, Conor Nerney, Martin Lannon, Padraig Casey, David Gunning and Declan Noone with Jacqueline O’Connor and Pat McCann cycling one of the stages each.

Enda, Brian and Martin were part of the group that cycled from Mizen Head to Malin Head earlier this summer and this weekends event will give them the bragging rights of having cycled the length and breadth of Ireland.

The back up driver and event coordinator will be Oliver Donagher who assisted the cyclist previously on the Mizen to Malin challenge.

Special thanks also to Trailcycling.ie for providing the bicycle transport and vehicle for back up and Skerries GAA club for shower facilities on Sunday.
