Fundraising Launch Day at Boyle Family Resource Centre

This Monday October 5th will be a big day in the history of Boyle Family Resource Centre. At 11am the formal launch of the Centre’s fundraising campaign to complete the redevelopment of the Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre will take place. The Centre is located in the former Rectory building on Military Road, adjacent to the Resource Centre and is currently undergoing a major refurbishment that will make it one of the most modern Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre’s in the West of Ireland.
Boyle Family Resource Centre is going from strength to strength and has helped thousands of people over the years and is a great asset to have in our town. Once work is completed on the new building it will make it even better and provide a modern, welcoming, accessible and more energy-efficient space to support children, adolescents and adults in the community for many years to come.
Following the official launch, a Spin Bike Challenge will get underway and continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with local groups, clubs and members of the community invited to get involved.
Everyone is welcome to attend the official launch at 11am on Monday, drop in throughout the day, cheer on those taking part or simply come along and find out more about the campaign and how you can help be part of the next chapter in Boyle Family Resource Centre, Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre.

Thinking outside the box when it comes to social venues

One of the criticism people often have here in Boyle is that we have nowhere to cater for various social gatherings. While on the surface, that fact may seem true, if you put your thinking cap on and look outside the box, we do have various venues, and this was evident during week in a social media post from King House. It read: “At King House, we understand the value of gathering with family and friends to reminisce and share memories for receptions and celebrations of life. Our Main Salon caters for up to 80 guests, offering a variety of options for all tastes. We would love to cater to your needs. If you would like to enquire about booking our Main Salon or to simply gather more information on options available, please call 087 144 4739, email [email protected]”.
There are other venues around town that can cater for social gatherings and with a number of outside caters available, the fact is that you most definitely can have an event in Boyle – you just need to think outside the box.

And the good news continues for Boyle………

Wednesday was yet another exciting day for Boyle when news broke that the Government had chosen the town for one of the seven proposed new early learning and childcare projects under the State-led early learning and childcare capital programme. It is understood a building has been sourced in Boyle for the project and according to Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran: “The projects (announced) are expected to be operational next year, once fit-out works and not-for-profit providers are in place”. The news was welcomed by the voluntary “Early Learning and Care” group who said: “A huge amount of work has gone into getting us to this point. As a voluntary committee, we have worked hard for over three years to raise awareness of the critical need for additional childcare places in Boyle and to highlight the serious impact the shortage has had on local children and families. We are incredibly pleased to see that the need identified and raised by our community is now being recognised through this investment. Access to sufficient, quality childcare is essential for families and plays an important role in supporting parents to work, study and participate fully in community life. We look forward to seeing this initiative progress and to sharing further details as they become available”.
Wednesday’s announcement would not have happened without the tremendous work done by the “Early Learning and Care” group, along with help from Boyle Family Resource Centre, Roscommon County Childcare Committee and numerous politicians from all parties who lobbied hard to have Boyle chosen. The ladies involved in the Early Learning and Care group deserve special mention. They got all the reports compiled, surveys completed, sourced premises – which was not an easy task – and had all information in order which was a requirement for the project to be successful.
Well done to all involved in another great day for our town and thank you again to the Government for putting further investment into our community.

And finally…..!

Five Germans in an Audi Quattro arrive at the Italian border.
The Italian Customs agent stops them and tells them:
“It’s illegal to put 5 people in a Quattro.”
“What do you mean it’s illegal?” asks the German driver.
“Quattro means four” replies the Italian official.
“Qvattro is just the name of the auto”, the Germans retort unbelievingly.
“Look at the papers: this auto is designed to carry 5 persons.”
“You can’t pull that one on me!”, replies the Italian customs agent.
“Quattro means four. You have five people in a your machine and you are therefore breaking the law.”
The German driver replies angrily, “You idiot! Call your supervisor over, I want to speak to someone with more intelligence!”
“Sorry”, responds the Italian official, “He can’t come”.
“He’s busy with a 2 guys in a Fiat Uno”.
