Large crowds great Ras riders on Stage 1 into Boyle

A large crowd lined the streets of Boyle on Wednesday afternoon to greet the arrival of the first stage of the 70th Ras Tailteann into the town .
On a beautiful summer day, blessed with wall to wall sunshine, anticipation grew from lunchtime in advance of the 145 riders arriving into Boyle at approximately 3.30pm.
At an average speed of 45kph for the 155.5k there were many tired legs as the cyclists made their way to their team cars in St. Joseph’s Church car park.
The winner of the stage was Tim Shoreman from UK Team Wheelbase, 2nd was Niall McLoughlin Connacht Cycling, 3rd Will Tidball from Team Great Britain, 4th Sebastian Brenes Mexico, 5th Charles Page Foran UK, 7th Odhran Doogan Cycling Ulster, 8th Matteo Cigala Carlow, 9th Dean Harvey Team Ireland and 10th Alex Peters UK Das Richardson.
