Following the discovery of a man’s body in Boyle earlier today, Wednesday 13th August 2025, the missing person appeal for 21-year-old David O’Callaghan, who had been reported missing since 9th August 2025, has now been stood down.
Gardai advise that no further action is required.
An Garda Síochána wishes to thank the public and media for their assistance during the course of this appeal.
David had been missing since Saturday 9th August and was last seen in the vicinity of St. Joseph’s Church in Boyle.
Family, friends and a number of local people along with Gardai and Civil Defence personnel had been involved in a search operation since concerns were raised as to David’s whereabouts.
Searches took place along the Boyle canal, cycle path, Lough Key Forest Park, Longford and Carrick on Shannon.
