With fine sunny weather promised, the highly popular cycling sportive – the Lough Key Classic, run by local club Curlieu Wheelers, returns to Boyle this Sunday May 15th with two distances on offer.
Commencing at 9am, riders on the 120k route will depart from the Sports Complex before taking on a challenging route pedalling through counties Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim.
At 9.30am the 70k riders will also depart from the Sports Complex on an equally challenging journey.
Both distances will have a mid way stop for refreshments in King House.
Some riders will also take on the gruelling ‘King of the Mountains’ challenge when they finally enter Boyle, turning left and up Green Street, climbing the old Mail Coach road and descending down the Curlews and back to finish on the Crescent.
The entry for both events is still being kept at the same price as previous years of €20 for Cycling Ireland members and €25 for non cycling Ireland members. This includes a hot meal at the end of both cycles and the top quality hospitality that the event has become famous for.
Online entry is now open, and entries will be accepted on the morning of the event.
The Lough Key Classic has this year also been chosen by Connacht Cycling as one of five high profile events in the “2022 Leisure Cycle Series” – 5 events in 5 counties between April and June.
