Boyle golf club news

RESULTS – The winners of the clubs qualifier for the Holmpatrick Cup were Charlie O’Donnell and Martin Sweeney with 42 points, we wish them all the best in the next round.
VOUCHER COMPETITION – The most financially rewarding prize of the year, the “Voucher” Competition, will be played for next weekend, April 25th and 26th, . First prize for the Men is, as ever, the much coveted “free membership”, but only those whose membership is paid in full or in good standing are eligible to win 1st prize, so get those memberships paid up soon. It would be a very frustrating experience to have the best score in the day but be ineligible to win by virtue of not having paid on time. A full list of the fees and payment arrangements are available on boylegolfclub.com. If paying by bank transfer, our IBAN is IE59 BOFI 905328 22439700 , please put your name in the narrative so we know who has paid.
ADULT AND CHILDRENS LESSONS – Our Men’s and Ladies Beginner lessons got off to a great start last Wednesday evening despite some absolutely terrible weather. Some people who had barely hit a ball before were hitting some impressive strikes by the end of their first lesson. There will no lessons this Wednesday but they will recommence the following Wednesday. For each of the subsequent 5 Wednesdays the 8th and 9th holes will be closed from 17.30 to 20.30. Also on Saturday 25th , Childrens lessons resume. The 8th and 9th holes will again be closed during lesson times for safety. The lesson times for the children will be from 10.30-13.30 for these Saturdays.
TED HESTER MEMORIAL COMPETITION – The family of the late Ted Hester are organising a competition in his memory over the May Bank Holiday weekend. It will also serve as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society.
This 4-person team open competition follows a “pick best drive and play your own ball” format, with entry at €80 per team. Food and refreshments will be available. To book a tee time, contact Lorcan Egan on 087 652 1271.
MENS THURSDAY – The Men’s Thursday Competition continues to suffer from a series of false starts given the Noah’s ark levels of rainfall we have been encountering, but, it might just actually be possible to get it started this Thursday the 23rd as the forecast for the week is good and we expect improved conditions underfoot and overhead by then. Fingers crossed, touch wood et cetera. It will be the usual 9 hole Stableford format, with online booking. Regular entrants please consider sponsoring.
CONDOLENCES – The clubs dishes to express our sympathies to the family of Michael McCauley who died in recent weeks. Michael was very well regarded by all in the club during his playing career. Condolences to Belinda, Shane, Jessica and Alan.
