Boyle golf club news

LIZ DWYER – All in the club were shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Liz Dwyer. It still seems hard to take in that such a fate could befall an energetic, positive, health conscious person such as Liz. Along with her husband Jimmy, Liz was a true stalwart of Boyle Golf Club for several decades, and she had served on the clubs’ committees in several capacities including Captain, President and Treasurer. She was a very talented golfer, having at one point held the lowest handicap in the Ladies section for several years and she was renowned for the keenly competitive but sporting spirit with which she played the game. It was these qualities that made her a key member of the Boyle team that won a Connacht Mixed Foursomes title in 1998, one of the clubs greatest days. Liz was a proud member of the Carty family and was constantly supportive of her extended family on and off the golf course. She helped out in the club in a myriad of different ways apart from her committee work, including ensuring the clubhouse looked its best on the days of major competitions.
The club extends its deepest sympathies to the Carty family and most especially to her husband Jimmy Dwyer.
