Members of Lough Ree Sub Aqua club have come to the aid of families cut off by flood water in Lisserdrea outside Boyle.
They are assisting Roscommon County Council by bringing sand bags to homes affected by the rising flood waters.
According to local Councillor John Cummins, access has also been provided to three other homes in the area cut off by flooding with the building of a new road over farmland.
Cllr Cummins told Boyletoday.com that the situation in Lisserdrea and other areas was “very serious” and that he was working with Roscommon Co Co to assist those affected.
