Filming to commence soon in Boyle on new horror film

A new horror film – The Cellar – will commence filming in County Roscommon in the next few weeks with some segments being shot in Boyle’s Lough Key Forest Park.

The storyline of The Cellar revolves around Keira Woods (played by Elisa Cuthbert), whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. Keira soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.

The production is being supported by Screen Ireland, Epic Pictures, BCP Asset Management, The Wrap Fund and Wallimage, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance, VOO & BETV.

The Western Region Audiovisual Producers Fund (WRAP) is a Regional Fund committed to strategic investment on commercial terms that generates economic impact, supports local talent, creates sustainable employment, builds the audio-visual infrastructure and contributes to the culture and language of the West of Ireland.

WRAP is an initiative of the Western Development Commission and Galway Film Centre in association with the local authorities of Clare, Donegal, Galway City, Galway County, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Údarás na Gaeltachta

A ‘Crew Call’ for the film had gone out on social media last week and such was the response that positions were filled almost immediately.

Along with Lough Key Forest Park it is understood some other segments will be shot in Castlerea.

The Cellar will be released in Irish cinema’s next year.
