The cost of damage by the recent flooding in County Roscommon has been estimated at €4.1m
The figure was revealed to County Councillors on Wednesday at a special meeting of Roscommon County Council by Senior Engineer Eugene Dwyer.
The meeting also heard that had finance been made available to the Council in recent years, it would have been able to carry out some drainage and upgrade works that could have alleviated some but not all of the current problems.
Councillors also told of the plight of those in their areas who had suffered by the flooding.
The council are hopefull that they will receive the €412,000, which is the current cost of addressing the crisis, but the meeting was told it could be harder to get reimbursed the full amount of €4.1m
