Freedom of London for Boyle man

Congratulations to St Patrick Street native James Clarke who was recently awarded the Freedom of the City of London.

James is son of Jimsie and Maura and is general manager of the prestigious Hilton Bankside Hotel in London.

No strange to receiving awards and accolades, James was also awarded the “General Manager of the Year for Hilton in Europe, Middle East and Africa” in November 2018. He accepted his award in the Conrad Dubai at a prestigious event.

James put his understanding of business to “washing glasses and cleaning up” at the family business Clarkes Bar and Restaurant when he was young.

“Hospitality is part of my blood. My family opened James Clarke Bar & Restaurant (Est. 1889). Meeting people from around the world that came to stay inspired me to travel which is an opportunity the hospitality industry gives – learning about different cultures and tasting food and wine from around the world. At 18 I went to study in England before taking up my first job after college in America when I was 19. I’ve been all over the world since then” he told Boyletoday.com when contacted over the weekend.

James and his family are regular visitors to Boyle and keep up to date with all that is happening in the town.
