36-year-old man was arrested in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 41-year-old Frenchpark man on Saturday in North Lauderdale, Florida
It is understood a man was arrested at his Hollywood home on the charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
The dead man has been identified as Martin O’Connor of Frenchpark, County Roscommon.
Mr O’Connor was well known in Boyle having worked in the Green Isle factory a number of years ago.
Friends identified him as a drummer in Declan Nerney’s band who were scheduled to play during an Irish theme cruise aboard a Holland America Line ship that was to leave today from Port Everglades.
Martin had previously played with the Patrick Feeney Band and was married with two young children.
Police said the man was with two friends, all of whom were visiting from Ireland.
