It has been confirmed that Gardai in Boyle are to implement increased mobile and foot patrols in the town and environs throughout the month of December.

The confirmation comes following a number of meetings held over the last few weeks between local Joint Policing Committee representatives and Gardai management.

At the meetings, the JPC representatives had outlined their concern at the reduced hours in Boyle Garda Station over the last number of years along with the need for additional patrols in the town and area to bring them back to previous levels.

The reduction in hours and Gardai in Boyle Station, and indeed throughout the county over the last few years, had been raised at numerous Joint Policing Committee meetings, including the most recent public meeting held in Roscommon last September.

The move has been welcomed by the JPC representatives who have thanked Inspector Flynn from Boyle Garda Station for his cooperation to date.

The representatives also hope that additional Gardai will be assigned to Boyle and that the Garda Station will open for longer and more appropriate hours.
