Gardai investigate alleged criminal damage at King House

A Garda investigation is continuing into alleged acts of criminal damage at the King House Building in Boyle.

It is understood the alleged incidents at King House and Boyle Library have resulted in a significant spill of kerosene into the building.

As a result, both Boyle Library and King House are currently closed to the public while specalised environmental teams deal with the incident.

In a statement following the incident, Roscommon Co Co said: “To protect staff, visitors and collections, and to facilitate remediation works, all public events scheduled for King House and Boyle Library have been postponed and both locations remain closed until further notice. The matter has been referred to An Garda Síochána for investigation. Gardaí are also reviewing available CCTV footage as part of their inquiries. Roscommon County Council will fully support and cooperate with this investigation. At this time, and while Garda inquiries are ongoing, Roscommon County Council will not be making any further public comment on the circumstances of the incidents”.
