Large crowds line the route of Boyle St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The persistent rain gave way to light drizzle this afternoon for a large crowd of spectators to view the 25 or so entries in this year’s Boyle St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The overall winner was Boyle Golf Clubs entry (“Can’t plan anything in this OFFALY bad weather”) 2nd were the Ladybirds and Girl Guides. Junior winner was Fitt Kids Connacht and best window display went to Marians. Best Vintage Section was won by Finian and Mary Dockery in their 54 year old M.G. The winners were presented with their prizes by Councillor Sean Moylan, Chairman of Boyle Municipal District.
Mike ‘Junior’ Smith was, as ever, the capable M.C. for the day.
Well done to the organising committee on yet another brilliant event. And well done to all the members of the public who came out in less than favorable weather to celebrate anther great St. Patrick’s Day in Boyle.
The entertainment continues this evening with a free family concert by Music Generation in Daly’s Storehouse from 5pm – 6.30pm.
