Low usage for Urgent Care Facility

It has been revealed that less than two people per day used the Urgent Care Facility at Roscommon University Hospital.

Deputy Eugene Murphy has said the figures, which were disclosed at a special briefing of Roscommon/ Galway Oireachtas members with the Saolta group at University Hospital Galway, have to be addressed.

The figures show 652 people used the facility from March 2015 to March 2016.

Deputy Murphy feels that the €100 fee that applies to walk in patients may be one of the reasons less people are using the Urgent Care Centre.

He said he has been assured there will be no cutting of hours as a result of the reduction and that a new drive to make people aware of the Centre is whats needed.
