One dead following N4 crash

One person has died and another is in a critical condition following a serious traffic accident on the N4 this morning.

The man is understood to have been an employee of Sligo County Council.

The collision involved three vehicles and the deceased man is understood to be from the locality.

Currently the N4 between Boyle and Castlebaldwin remains closed (18.00pm) following the collision at Whitehall outside Castlebaldwin.

Medevac 112 (pictured on scene) assisted in bringing the most seriously injured to UCG hospital.

Boyle Fire Brigade and a fleet of ambulances attended what is being described by Gardaí as “a very serious road traffic collision” which took place shortly after 11am

The road is closed in both directions with diversions in place.

Unconfirmed reports suggest a truck, tractor and a van were involved in the collision on a straight stretch of road.
