The Roscommon/ Longford Garda Division is to have a new Chief Superintendent.
It follows the retirement of Padraig Rhattigan who held the position for many years.
Former Belmullet Garda Superintendent Tony Healy has been promoted to the divisions top position and will be based at the Divisional Headquarters in Roscommon Town.
Mr Healy was one of the senior Gardai involved in the investigation into the crash of Rescue 116 helicopter last year
Chief Superintendent for the Galway region Tom Curley had been acting Chief Superintendent for the last number of months.
