New Roscommon heritage interactive digital flip book launched

‘Roscommon: Our County, Our Heritage’ is new an interactive digital flip book showcasing the built, natural, cultural and intangible heritage of County Roscommon in a magazine style digital flip book.

Boyle features prominently in the book.

While aimed at children of 7-13 years, this publication will be of interest to all ages. It covers topics as diverse as geology, archaeology, architecture, museums, place names, famous people, wildlife and more. It is best viewed on a PC or laptop. Check it out here.

Each page has interactive ‘did you know’ sections which encourage engagement. It is further enhanced by the addition of enhanced audio which transforms it into a rich audio experience, making local history more accessible, inclusive and engaging for all. It brings to life over 5,000 years of Roscommon’s heritage – from ancient tombs and royal sites to medieval castles, monastic ruins, and Big House estates. It invites you to journey through time, discovering the stories of Queen Medb, the O’Conor kings, famine survivors, miners, monks and more.

Designed to support literacy, accessibility and creative engagement, this ezine ensures that Roscommon’s heritage can be enjoyed by diverse audiences, including those with visual impairments, learning differences, or a preference for auditory storytelling. Our County Our Heritage was produced by News Mag Media limited, an award-winning local publishing company delivering dynamic, engaging and trustworthy news and inclusive content to children aged 7-13 since 2011.

This project is an action of Roscommon Heritage Strategy 2025-2029. The audio element was funded by @ Roscommon County Council @ Creative Ireland Programme 2025. Supported under Ceangal, the Local Authority Heritage Programme, delivered in partnership between the Heritage Council and Local Government Ireland.
