Pike Angling on Lough Key

The annual Easter Pike Angling festival got underway this morning with the first fish being landed (3lb) at 11.26 by Monaghan angler Aidan Sherlock.

The departure of the flotilla of boats from Doon Shore was a real spectacle in beautiful weather

The festival is organised  by Boyle and District Angling Club and fished today and tomorrow on Lough Key with nearly €5000 in prize money up for grabs.

The winner will receive €2,500, second €1,500 and third €750.

There will also be Ladies prizes and paid up club members prizes.

Entry is €60 per adult and €20 per junior.

Juniors must fish for the junior prizes at the €20 entry.

Juniors must also be accompanied by a fee paying adult.
