Polish Ambassador visits King House for cultural event

Roscommon County Council was delighted to receive the Polish Ambassador to Poland, Artur Michalski accompanied by the Embassy’s First Counsellor Agnieszka Skolimowska as special for to a special concert in King House last Saturday (September 26th).
The event was staged with the support of Roscommon County Council, in association with Coast2Coast, Cultúr2026 and funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The performance was part of a unique collaboration entitled ‘An Irish Songbook’, an Irish/Polish collaboration of music and song performed by Simon Morgan and The Richie Buckley Quartet accompanied by visiting musicians Emil Miszk and Patrycja Wybranczyk from Gdansk in Poland.
The Ambassador and Ms. Skolimowska were also warmly welcomed to County Roscommon by the Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Cllr. Domnick Connolly; its Chief Executive, Shane Tiernan, Arts Officer, Rhona McGrath; Senior Executive Officer, Fiona Ní Chuinn and Manager of King House Boyle, Patricia Golden.
Welcoming the Ambassaor and First Counsellor, Cathaoirleach Cllr. Domnick Connolly said he hoped the Ambassador and First Counsellor’s visit would be the first of many to Roscommon to sample the county’s rich heritage and history.
Cllr. Connolly paid particular tribute to Caroline Wynne of Creative Connexions Ireland and Artscope, supported by the Arts Office of Roscommon County Council, in organising what was a unique and entertaining event.
Cllr. Connolly also paid tribute to the staff of King House in Boyle for hosting the event, in particular commending Manager Patricia Golden and her team for their work in managing this facility, which he said, was the envy of many other counties.
Cllr. Connolly also extended a particularly warm welcome to visiting musicians Emil Miszk and Patrycja Wybranczyk. His sentiments were echoed by Ambassador Michalski who cited the many enduring common ties between Ireland and Poland.
