Search stood down for missing Roscommon man

Following the discovery of a body on Sunday 20th August 2023, at Rosses Point in Sligo, the missing person appeal for Roscommon man Paul Carthy has been stood down.

Gardaí in Sligo would like to thank the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the Irish Coast Guard and Sligo Fire Services as well as the media and members of the public for their assistance in this matter.

 

On Saturday, Gardaí had appealed to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 52-year-old Paul Carthy who was reported missing from his home in Scramogue, Co. Roscommon on Thursday 17th August 2023 at 2pm.

Paul is described as being around 6 foot in height, of thin build, with brown and grey hair and blue eyes. Paul was last seen at 9pm on Wednesday 16th August at Sligo University Hospital.

When last seen, Paul was wearing a navy t-shirt, dark blue jeans and a black jacket. He was carrying a navy rucksack and a plastic snickers bag.

Gardaí and Paul’s family are concerned for his welfare.
