Meeting on Sacred Heart Hospital

Council Cathaoirleach Paddy Kilduff has called Friday afternoon’s meeting to discuss what he terms are deep concerns about the facility.

The health information authority HIQA has given the HSE 28 days to commit to finding the 11 million euro needed for extensive refurbishment of the hospital to bring it up to an acceptable standard.

The Sacred Heart Hospital was built in the 1840’s and can accommodate over 90 residents.

It could face closure if the funding is not allocated by early September.
