Five star Celtic soar past stern Shiven

Our Wynne’s Bar sponsored men’s first team bounced back from last weekend’s Connacht Cup defeat with a 5-2 triumph away to Shiven Rovers on Saturday night in the RDFL Premier Division.
Celtic took the lead on 11 minutes with Mick Corrigan finishing brilliantly following a Shane Battles knock-down.
On 25 minutes, the home side equalised, leaving the score at half-time a goal apiece.
Having missed last week’s game, the returning David Callaghan was keen to make amends.
He did so brilliantly on 48 minutes latching on to a Gerard McDermottroe corner.
Shane Battles put Boyle two to the good three minutes later before Shiven pulled one back on 55.
The Callaghan-McDermottroe combination worked a treat once more shortly after the hour mark with the former meeting the latter’s excellent corner delivery with a powerful header.
Lochlainn Conboy’s charges wrapped up the victory a minute from time as Battles netted his second following an Adam Dwyer assist.

Huge congratulations also to former Boyle Celtic youths and first team player, James Bolger, who’s signed a new deal with Drogheda United.
We’re all incredibly proud to have played a part in your football journey, James — wishing you continued success!

Our under 12 girls made the trip to Summerhill on Sunday to play Kilglass/ Enniscrone in the league final. The girls put in a fantastic performance. Kilglass took an early goal but Boyle fought hard to equalise with a goal from Leah O’ Donohoe. The game ended with the girls losing narrowly on penalties. Well done to all the girls who worked hard throughout and both sides played some nice football.
