A booklet titled “From Cliffoney to Crosna” by Fr Michael O’Flanagan will be launched by Dr Kieran O’Conor in Cleen Hall on Friday, 3rd February, at 7.30pm.
The date is the centenary of polling in the election of the snows (1917) when Count Plunkett was elected with the support of Sinn Féin, the Irish Volunteers and others. Fr O’Flanagan played a very prominent role in achieving that historic victory.
He was a curate in Crossna at the time.
Martin Byrne, who compiled the booklet, will speak about” Fr O’Flanagan and the Election of the snows”.
Local musicians will join musicians from Cliffoney on the night to enhance the occasion.
Light refreshments will be served.
