Gardai have made one of the biggest drug seizures ever in County Leitrim.
Cannabis resin with a street value of €135,000 was recovered after Gardai stopped and searched a car in the Townspark area on Carrick on Shannon on Tuesday evening.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 50 year old male, was arrested and detained at Carrick on Shannon Garda Station under Section 2 (Drug Trafficking Act).
A follow up search of a premises in Manorhamilton unearthed approximatley an additional €5,000 worth of drugs and a large quantity of money.
The seizure forms part of an on going investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Northern Region, and in particular the Sligo/Leitrim Division.
