Boyle Fire Service attend forest fire

Members of Boyle Fire and Rescue Service assisted in fighting a large forest fire near Ballaghaderreen on Monday evening.

Up to 30 fire fighters were involved in containing the outbreak with brigades from Boyle, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Charlestown in attendance.

A water tanker was also used to assist the four appliances at the scene.

Visibility on the N5 between Frenchpark and Ballaghaderreen was affected as a result of dense smoke with the AA warning motorists to drive with caution on that stretch of road.
