AGM

Last month, both Boyle GAA Club and Boyle LGFA Club held their Annual General Meetings. To reflect on a historic year for Gaelic Games in the town, we have summarised below what took place at both AGMs:
Boyle GAA Club AGM took place at the Abbey Park on December 8th. Secretary Michael Tormey gave his report on the on-field activities during the year and congratulated all teams and their mentors, in particular the u13 team/mentors who won the Keenan Cup and the adult Junior team/mentors who won the Junior B Championship. Outgoing Chairman David Kelly gave his address in which he highlighted some of the clubs achievements this year and over the last four years during which he was chair. These included Enda Smith’s all star award, the senior team winning the Senior league for the first time in the clubs history in 2022, the senior team reaching two county finals in a row in 2022 and 2023 (something which had not been done since 1927 until 2022), the joint fundraiser with Boyle Celtic in 2021, tarmacing the abbey park grounds and installing seats into the John Joe Nerney Stand. He also congratulated the ladies club on their historic championship-winning achievement in 2023 and Donal Smith on reaching the milestone of 100 appearances for Roscommon. David thanked all the club’s sponsors and in particular Tony (RIP), Mark and Declan McGovern of McGovern Civils, Alan Cooney of Cooney Motors and Ciarán Phelan of National Automation. David also thanked all the coaches, committee members, volunteers, players and parents involved in the club.
