MENS THURSDAY RESULTS – Although results are available in the clubhouse every week, we haven’t published any of the Men’s Thursday competitions for 2 months, please find these below. We are hoping to have a presentation of prizes soon for any outstanding unpresented prizes including for the Thursdays. Some of the competitions below may not have a 3rd place prize, depending on the numbers who played on the day.

GOLFER OF THE YEAR – There are only a few ranking competitions left in this series and Keith Dowling currently has a commanding lead on 307 points, with Pat Conroy currently lying 2nd on 273. Vincent Egan is 3rd with 266. Whilst it is mathematically possible that Keith could still be caught in the remaining weeks,Pat and Vincent have their work cut out for them.
Comparing the tables for the past few years, there is a very apparent link between the number of competitions played and a players rank on the table. For example, out of the top 50 players, only 4 players have played in 30 or more of the Order of Merit comps, 3 of whom are the top 3 players named above. It would suggest that if someone was actively targeting the Golfer of the Year title from the beginning of the year that ensuring they have played 30 events is vital. Playing some of the lower profile, less supported weekend competitions is also a good strategy as these have the same ranking points as some of the higher profile ones.
CAPTAINS OUTINGS – Shane O’Dowds Captains Outing arrangements are still being finalised but it looks like it will take place on the weekend of October 4th/5th with Fiona Keenan’s Lady Captain’s outing taking place the following weekend.
