Boyle L.E.A. covid incidence rate slightly above average

New figures release over the weekend show that the 14 day Covid incidence rate from 1st- 14th September in the Boyle L.E.A. (Local Electoral Area) was slightly above the national average.

The rate per 100k people in the Boyle L.E.A. was 55 with the national average standing at 52.8.

County Roscommon is divided in to 3 LEA’s – Boyle, Roscommon and Athlone with the population of the Boyle L.E.A. at 21,831.

There were also 12 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Boyle L.E.A. during the 14 day period.

The Carrick on Shannon L.E.A., with a population of 11,361 had a rate of 132 per 100k people with 15 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, Green Party leader Eamonn Ryan has said “it is a possibility” that Leitrim could go to Level 3.

His comments come at the same time as a joint statement was issued on Sunday night by Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Cllr. Mary Bohan, Chief Executive of Leitrim County Council, Lar Power, Chief Superintendent of An Garda Siochana, Aidan Glacken and Director of Public Health HSE North West, Dr. Anthony Breslin advising the public “We have a window of opportunity to bring this disease under control and to keep Leitrim at Level 2 restrictions.”

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly in launching the hub said: “I understand that people really want to know more detailed information about this virus, how it is affecting their communities, and those around the country as a whole.

“The COVID-19 Data Hub now offers regularly updated Local Electoral Area data in order to fulfil this very real desire that is out there for transparency around this virus and its impact.

“Transparency is a key cornerstone of Ireland’s response to this pandemic. At this crucial time, it matters more than ever.”
