A film set in Sligo and starring two actors with Boyle connections is to open the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival 2014.
Starring Boyle’s favourite son Chris O’Dowd and regular visitor to the town Brendan Gleeson – “Calvary” will have its Irish premiere at the opening gala for the festival at Dublin’s Savoy Cinema.
Director John Michael McDonagh has again cast Brendan Gleeson in the lead role following his sucess in the Guard.
The blackly comic drama set in Easkey, West Sligo features a very talented cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd and Aidan Gillen.
The festival will run from 13th – 23rd February and Calvary will be released in Irish cinemas on 11 April 2014.
