Croghan man completes 230k swim of River Shannon

Congratulations to Croghan man Paul Little who yesterday (Sunday) completed his 8 day 230km swim of the River Shannon.

Paul set off from Dowra, Co. Cavan on Saturday August 9th and swam on average over 30km per day, some days spending up to 15 hours in the water.

On Sunday afternoon, after waiting for the right tide, Paul exited the Shannon from the floating jetty behind the Hunt Museum in Limerick having achieved what he set out to do.

Family members and well wishes including members of the Lough Key Swim Club and Lough Key Triathlon Club were there to greet Paul after his heroic and mammoth journey.

Paul undertook the epic challenge to raise funds for North West STOP – a community-based, voluntary charity founded in 2004 by families who had lost loved ones to suicide. Their primary aim is to prevent suicide by providing accessible, free, confidential counselling services. An invaluable service to the North West of Ireland.

So far over €17,000 has been raised by Paul for North West STOP and you can still donate to Paul’s fundraising efforts here.
