Device found at Boyle ATM

Gardai in Boyle have confirmed that a cash jamming device was detected at the Bank of Ireland ATM in the town on Thursday January 2nd.

An alert member of the public notified An Garda Siochana of a suspicious device, which it is understood blocks cash as it is it is due to be withdrawn in the hope that the customer will leave assuming the machine is broken but the thief is waiting and then takes the cash.

A similar device was found at the Bank of Ireland ATM in Strokestown on Saturday January 4th  and Gardaí believe both incidents are related.
