ESB Networks give explanation for Boyle power outages

Following a query from Boyletoday.com, ESB Networks has responded with a reason for Sunday evening’s power outage in Boyle.

Approximately 1285 consumers lost power 4.43 pm, while a further 415 consumers lost power at 5.19pm.

In a statement to this website, ESB Networks said: “We can confirm a fault in Boyle on Sunday evening at approximately 5pm”.

“It was as a result of a bird strike on a line feeding an area of the town which caused the overhead line to trip”.

“ESB Networks crews responded quickly to repair the fault and restore power to impacted customers in a couple of hours”.

“A number of outages on Thursday evening in Carrick on Shannon has meant the network in the Boyle area has less contingency when events like this occur but crews are working on permanent repairs in both locations this week”.

“We apologise to impacted customers for the inconvenience caused”.
