Ahead of the weekend and a fine spell of weather, Gardai are reminding the public of the current Covid-19 related restrictions and guidelines, especially in relation to family gatherings.
Speaking to Boyletoday.com on Friday, Superintendent Tom Colsh of Castlerea Garda Station, which also covers the Boyle area, said “With the sun shining and confirmations and communions taking place, some families may be planning gatherings or events to celebrate these occasions. I would ask them to please remember the current restrictions and guidelines that are in place in relation to household gatherings. I would also ask members of the public to be conscious of the special measure in place in the Dublin area, whereby those living in Dublin should be encouraged to limit travel outside that region”.
“We will be operating additional checkpoints and patrols this weekend to ensure compliance with the current restrictions and will be encouraging the public to adhere to HSE guidelines”.
Superintendent Colsh concluded by saying they will be only using enforcement as a last resort.
