James Cull Tractor Run on St. Stephen’s Day

The annual James Cull Truck and Tractor Run will take place on St. Stephen’s Day commencing at 11am from Drumshanbo Mart.
The route this year will be via Keadue, Ballyfarnon, Arigna and back to Drumshanbo Mart.
The Run is in memory of the late James Cull, brother of Boyle LEA Councillor Leah Cull.
According to the organisers: “It has always been the plan to have the tractor run in Drumshanbo at least once, as it was a special place for James, who spent a lot of time there. James often bought and sold sheep, and was part of the Thursday night shearing club – and the mart was the last place he visited before he passed away. This location holds a special place in our hearts, making it fitting to host the event here this year”.
“Registration begins at 11 o’clock, with a fee of €20 per tractor. We will depart from the Mart at 1 PM sharp! Our route will see us leaving the mart, heading out the Carrick road, as far as the turn off for Joe McLoughlins and the galley R280 down to McCranns, over to Keadue and Ballyfarnon & up the mountain road back to Arigna (Stanton’s – weather permitting) and back to Drumshanbo where we started! This will be one of the most picturesque routes any tractor run has covered. It holds special significance because, at one point during the run, we will drive alongside our home, farm, and the mountain that James cherished so dearly”.
“The event will be raising funds once again for North West STOP-Suicide Prevention. Over the years we have raised over €85,000 which equates to over 1500 counselling sessions for people. We also fundraised in 2023 for 6 local search and rescue crews that amounted to €13,000. This year online proceeds will go towards the new counselling building in Drumkeeran”.
