Fiona Keenan’s Lady Captains Weekend got off to a fine start with a great attendance for her Friday evening Scramble and Barbeque despite weather conditions that were less than perfect. Fiona thanked Shane, Michelle and family for arranging and running the barbecue on the evening.
The Scramble was won by the team of Olive Filan, Carmel Keenan, Lorcan Egan and Tish Perry. 2nd were Bernie Kemple, Karl Keenan, Regina McLoughlin and Colin Garvin. The 3rd placed team was that of Mark Feehan, Dympna McNamara and Noel McKenna.
The Lady Beginners were next out on the Saturday and their competition was won by Yvonne Moloney; Valerie O’Donohoe came 2nd. On Sunday the 9 hole competition was won by Olive Filan, just pipping regular playing partner Carmel Beirne.
The main event of Lady Captains Weekend is of course the 18 Hole Strokeplay on the Sunday and Michelle Quinn was the winner with a very strong 60 nett. Fiona in her speech congratulated all the prize winners ( including her brother Karl who had won the Lady Captains Prize to the Men on the previous Sunday), thanked all who took part and all those who in anyway helped make Lady Captains weekend such a success. She also thanked those who volunteer their time to run the club throughout the year. She was especially delighted with the fundraiser she ran over the weekend which raised 330 euro to aid relief efforts for those currently suffering in Gaza.
