Men detained following Boyle robbery

Two men have been detained following the theft of vehicles at Forest Park Manor in Boyle overnight.

The men were arrested after car pursuits throughout a number of midland counties

The drama began at approximately 1.20am on Monday night when a house was broken into at Forest Park Manor on the Carrick Road.

A van and a car keys were taken.

The occupants of the house immediately notified the Gardai and a nationwide alert was issued by Boyle Gardai.

At 2.30am the car was observed on the N4 in Mullingar and following a pursuit the vehicle was abandoned and the driver arrested.

Shortly after 5.40am, the stolen van was observed in the Kinnegad area by a mobile patrol.

A pursuit ensued involving patrol cars and the Garda Air Support unit.

Following the deployment of a stinger devices, the van was brought to a halt and the driver arrested .

The drivers of both vehicles, who are believed to be from the Dublin area, are currently being detained for questioning.

One of those being held at Mullingar Garda Station under section 4 of the criminal justice act is understood to be a juvenile male.

Boyle Gardai have asked the public to continue to assist them in their efforts to fight crime by notifying them of any unusual activity or stange vehicles in the area.
