Sled Dog Racing in Boyle

On reflection, perhaps it was a good idea not to grant planning permission for a hotel in Lough Key Forest Park as anyone staying there this morning would not have had to forgo their  Saturday morning lie in. The sound of husky dogs howling from first light probably could be heard from miles away, carried by a bitterly cold wind.

The dogs and their entourage were in The Park today and again tomorrow (Sunday) to participate in the Triple Crown Sled dog Racing Series 2.

Over 30 competitors participated in Day 1 of the event this morning which was also covered by Irishtv.ie with competitors and organisers interviewed by Malachy Cush.

Formally set for Ballygar, County Galway, the Irish venue of the Irish FSS National Sled Dog Championship was changed to Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle.

The event continues tomorrow 2nd February, 2014 commencing at 9 a.m. concluding approximately 1 p.m.
The new venue sports well surfaced trails, caravan/camper van parking and a broad range of facilities on site including self catering, toilets and showers. This is guaranteed to be an event to remember.
Cafe/Restaurant facilities available during the races.
