Tender published for design team for Kingston Hall redevelopment
Further good news for Boyle this week with details of a planned major refurbishment of Kingston Hall on the outskirts of Lough Key Forest Park in Boyle into a “unique tourism destination”.
Tender documents for a an Architect Led Integrated Design Team Consultancy Services were recently published online.
The objective of the project is to obtain planning permission for the Kingston Hall development, for the full restoration and adaptive reuse of Kingston Hall and its grounds, transforming the site into a visitor-focused destination with an accommodation offering.
The project promoters – Kingston Hall Estate Ltd- plan to sympathetically refurbish and convert the existing ruinous buildings, dovecote tower, courtyard, underground cellars, walled gardens, and agricultural outhouses in line with building standards.
They also say that accommodation for visitors in the Lough Key area is less developed than other more mature tourism destinations.
Kingston Hall in Rockingham was built by the King family in the early 1770’s. When the family moved to Rockingham House, Kingston Hall became the residence of the Land Steward for the estate.
It was put up for sale in October 2021 and purchased soon after.
