The late John Joe Nerney

The death has taken place of John Joe Nerney, the cornerstone of Boyle GAA Club and a past president for nigh on seventy years, and a member of the great Roscommon All-Ireland winning senior team of the forties. John Joe passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening in The Abbey Haven Nursing Home, Boyle, surrounded by his loving family.

John Joe was a legend in Boyle GAA, having played with the Club from the thirties until the seventies. He was a prominent playing member of the All Ireland winning Roscommon teams of 1943 and 1944 and he played with Roscommon into the fifties, Boyle GAA Club extends its deepest sympathy to the Nerney family.
