Thefts on Dublin-Sligo rail line

Irish rail have advised passengers on the Dublin Sligo rail line (which passes through Boyle) to keep an eye on their luggage following a spate of thefts of suitcases on the trains over the last few months.

Carrick-on-Shannon Gardaí have arrested a number of people in relation to the thefts and some of those are due to appear before the local district court on Thursday 18th February in connection with the thefts.

A number of suitcases were recovered during the Garda investigation and they have appealed to anyone who may have had items stolen on the line in recent times to contact Sergeant Niall Davey in Carrick-on-Shannon on 071 9620021.
