Two die in RTA’s in the last 24 hours

Two people have died in road traffic accidents in the general area in the last 24 hours.

On Tuesday, an 80 year old man was killed at Beltra on the Ballisodare to Ballina road.

The man was killed in the two vehicle collision between a car and a van which happened just before lunchtime.

A post mortem will be carried out later on the body of the man who was a passenger in the car.

The driver, a woman in her 80s, and the van driver, a man in his 50s, were taken to Sligo Regional Hospital with serious injuries and they remain in a critical condition.

Earlier this afternoon a motorcyclist was killed on the Ballinamore to Fenagh road in Co. Leitrim.

The man was fatally injured when his motorbike was in collision with a four wheel drive vehicle.

His body has been removed to Sligo Regional Hospital
