Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten has said the electric car charging point in Ballaghaderreen is to be replaced before the end of the year.
The Minister said “It was recently brought to my attention that this charging point was out of service. This was one of the first fast car charging points in the country but as the manufacturer has since gone out of business there are no spare parts available.”
The new charger will include all three connectors needed to serve the needs of all electric cars on Irish roads.
“I have also allocated funding to roll out additional fast chargers for cars throughout the country for 2018. For the first time I have also made grants available for the installation of home chargers for those who purchase second hand electric cars.” he concluded
