Boyle GAA club notes

The following were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in An Craoibhin; Karen and Adrian Brogan, Bernie and Maurice Mullins, Jim and Marie Feighan, Fran McGeough, James P Keaney and John McGuinn. The house prize was won by Joe McDermott. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €8,500 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Daly’s Bar. Team E will be in charge.
It was a mixed week on the playing fields. Our U14 Division 4 team had a convincing away win against St Dominics on Saturday. They will have their next outing is against Roscommon Gaels in the Abbey Park on Saturday next at 11.30am. The U16s lost to Clan na Gael in Johnstown on Saturday in the Division 4 League. The National Automation Limited Minors lost narrowly to St Aidans in the Division 3 League in the Abbey Park on Sunday morning.
Our U14 Division 2 team will play Clan na Gael on Thursday evening next at 6.30pm. The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra junior team is scheduled to play Fuerty on Good Friday in Fuerty at 5.30pm in the Division 5 League. The McGovern Directional Drilling seniors will play Roscommon Gaels in the O’Rourke Cup in Lisnamult at 2.30pm.
The Club extends its thanks to Fergal O’Donnell for making a very informative presentation to all our club coaches recently. Thanks also to Club Coaching Officer Stephen Bohan for organising the event.
There is only just over a week left to enter the Club’s exciting “Know Your Sport” sports prediction competition. Tickets are only €10 and are available from Club officers and players. Alternatively you may enter on-line by accessing the Club’s website www.boylegaa.com. This is a great opportunity to test your knowledge of national and international sports events of 2015 and  a prize fund of €800 is available.
The County Board is inviting full-time secondary school students make application for Gaeltacht Scholarships worth €200 each. Applications can be downloaded from the County Board website. Candidates are required to do a short essay of maximum of 300 words as Gaeilge on the theme “Cumann Luthchleas Gael sa bhliain 2015” and submit it, together with a completed application form, to Tomás Ó Muirí, Oifeagach Cultúir agus Gaeilge, Roscommon County Board Offices, Racecourse Road, Roscommon on or before Friday 24th April.
Congratulations to Roscommon CBS Senior Footballers on reaching the Hogan Cup All Ireland Semi Final last weekend.
Best wisehes are extended to Mark Dowd and the Roscommon U21s, and especially to our representatives Enda Smith and Evan McGrath, in the Connacht U21 Final on Saturday evening next in Tuam.
