Boyle GAA club weekly update

Men’s News: Both Junior and Senior Teams were in action this past weekend.

First up on Friday, the Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Junior Team travelled to face Padraig Pearses.

The first half was tight, with Pearses taking their chances more often than the away side. Liam Casey scored Boyle’s goal.

Boyle started the second half brightly reducing the deficit to two points.

Following stoppages in play due to injuries, plus loose shooting and passing the game remained tight.

Pearses scored a goal with …five minutes remaining following a lapse in concentration in the Boyle defence.

All hope seemed lost. However, up stepped Shane Battles.

As the game entered injury time, the returning Jake McCrann found Battles who fired the ball to the back of the net beyond the goalkeeper.

From the resulting kick out, Manager Steve Tonra claimed the ball and after some quick passing, the ball found Battles who buried a second effort to give Boyle the lead. Connor Deery pointed soon after as Boyle snatched a late victory to make it three wins out of three in the Championship on a scoreline of 3-07 to 3-05
