Boyle GAA club weekly update

What a night! The biggest and most enjoyable event in the club for years took place last Saturday night. The club would like to thank again our main sponsor LandEscape PYT Ltd and our two premium sponsors Callen Tansey and Mc Govern Civil. Thanks also to all our sponsors who are too many to mention. Thanks to everyone who helped on the night and to all the contestants who did so much work pre the event and for their entertainment on the night! Finally a word of thanks to the committee, who without their work over the past number of months, Saturday night would not have happened. They are Karl Kennedy, Brian Furey, David Kelly, Marc O Connor, Mark O Donohoe, Sean Purcell, Roch Hanmore and Cian Smith.

The Cooney Motors Junior team travelled to Strokestown Friday night for their first outing in the division 4. Unfortunately a 10 minute spell at the start of the match saw Strokestown score two goals which Boyle never clawed back from. Eventually loosing on the slimmest of margins of 2-12 to 1.14.
Team: D. McGovern, A. Simon, J. Regan, C. McGee, A. O Connor, A. Sharkey, C. Tivnan, C. Flanagan, R. Finneran, M. O’Donoghue (0-1), S. Kane, (0-5) J. Moran (0-1) , M. O’Connor, C. Goldrick (1-7), R. Hannon. With: S. Tonra, J. Cox, K. Morris, C. Horan, S. Spellman and K. Sweeney.

Our u 16 team, sponsored by James Lannon, took on Kilmore/Shannon Gaels/St Ronans team on Sunday morning. Boyle started the brighter, playing with a strong wind in the first half, and went in at half time 7 points to 3 up. The wind picked up well in the second half but Boyle got the first score which was to be their only score of the half and eventually ran out a drawn game at 8 points a piece, a well earned point on the Division 1 table.

Elsewhere the girls u 16s lost to St. Dominic’s on the score line of 7.14 to 5.05.

Boyle GAA Club would like to extend condolences to Lotto team captain Jonathon Wynne and the Wynne family on the passing of Harry Wynne.

The Clubs sympathies are offered to the Cooke family on the untimely passing of James Cooke.

May Harry and James Rest In Peace.
