Boyle GAA news 11/8/14

The U12s had a winning start to their Keenan Cup campaign with a fine win over Elphin in the Orchard Park on Thursday evening last.
The U16s are awaiting details of their next championship outing.
The National Automation Limited Minors had a hard earned victory over Tulsk in Tulsk on Friday evening last in the Division 3 Championship. They will be in action again in the next round of this competition on this Thursday when they take on Kilglass Gaels/ St Barrys in Kilglass at 7pm.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors are expected to have their next Junior B Championship outing on the weekend of 23rd/ 24th August.
The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors had a busy week. They lost to Roscommon Gaels on Monday last in Hyde Park in the O’Rourke Cup. Then on Saturday they put up a brave performance against St Brigids in the Senior Championship. They led by a point at half time, but the physical maturity and experience of St Brigids told in the second half and the Kiltoom men emerged as convincing winners. We will have our final game in the group stages of the Senior Championship on Sunday when we travel to Woodmount to take on Padraig Pearses at 3pm. The Seniors will have O’Rourke Cup action in the following week with a home game against Strokestown.
The Club extends its thanks to everyone who helped in the successful hosting of the County Senior Football Championship double header in the Abbey Parkon Saturday last. This includes not only the many Club (male and female clubs) members who helped on the occasion, but also those who helped prepare and tidy the venue in the days leading up to the games. Thanks also to the Gardaí for their assistance in traffic management.
Congratulations are extended to former Boyle and Roscommon player Damien Keenehan who was a member of the Wolfe Tones team that retained the Melbourne Championship title in Australia recently.
There will be an important Club meeting on this Wednesday at 9pm to make plans for some interesting fundraising projects as well as other matters. All members are requested to attend.
Tickets are about to go on sale for a very attractive fundraising draw which includes a trailer load of top quality wood for your winter fuel, heating oil and cash. Tickets will be available from Club officers over the coming weeks.
Ladies Club
The Minor Ladies had a well deserved Championship win over Strokestown in Strokestown on Thursday last. They will play Shannon Gaels in their next Championship outing on this Tuesday at 7pm in the Abbey Park.
