Boyle L.E.A. Covid incidence rate highest in county

The latest key Covid-19 14 day incidence rate for Ireland has just been published and shows for the rate for the Boyle L.E.A. (Local Electoral Area) now stands at 357.3 per 100k population. The nationwide average is 307.6

There has also been 78 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the area during the 14 day period from October 13th to October 26th

The Boyle L.E.A. is quiet a large area of north county Roscommon (see map here) and stretches from Tarmonbarry in the east to Ballaghaderreen in the west and north to Lough Allen and has a population of 21,831.

The Roscommon L.E.A., with a population of 22,734 has an incidence rate of 202.3 per 100k with 46 confirmed cases while the third L.E.A. in the county – Athlone with a population of 19,979, has a 14 day incidence rate of 265.3 and 53 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The Carrick on Shannon LEA, with a population of 11,361 has a 14 day rate of 176 with 20 confirmed cases during the period.

The above figures are for the period 13th – 26th October and do not reflect the hopeful downward trend from Level 5 lockdown which came into effect on October 21st.
