Feighan interested in Dail seat

Boyle native and current Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan has declared his interest in running as a candidate in the Sligo/Leitrim constituency.

Senator Feighan declared his interest to Ocean FM following news this week that newly elected Fine Gael TD Gerry Reynolds is to withdraw from politics.

Deputy Reynolds said “it would not be possible to continue to expand and protect my business interests and serve the people of the constituency as a member of the Dáil”.

In the Ocean FM interview Senator Feighan said he has the experience needed to secure a second seat for the party, should he be selected.

He also feels that he is “well placed if selected on the ticket to get a second seat”

“I didn’t have the numbers to get through convention last year but I did express that if anything changed I would be anxious to be selected on the ticket”.

“I will be putting my case forward to Fine Gael National Executive”, he concluded.
